Simple Homemade Hummus

You likely already have everything you need on hand to make this simple, protein and fiber rich appetizer.

Makes: 10-15 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cans garbanzo beans, drained and well rinsed

  • 4 tbsp water

  • 4 tbsp olive oil

  • 1/2 lemon, juiced

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • 1 tsp sea salt

  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin

Toppings

  • Basil

  • Pine nuts

  • Cherry tomatoes

  • Olive oil

  • Parmesan

  • Flaky salt (I used a flaky herb garlic salt)

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender. If using a Vitamix style blender, load your liquids in first and garbanzo beans last for optimal blending. If using a Magic Bullet style blender, load in the opposite order.

  2. Blend well and add to a serving dish, or an airtight container if storing in the fridge.

  3. Top to your liking! A drizzle of quality olive oil is the key to success here, but any and all toppings are encouraged.
